Spotlight on Waikoloa Real estate featuring Guest Suites
Guest Suites are becoming one of the more sought-after features in Waikoloa Village. After touring a handful of properties last week, we can see why. These spaces aren’t just about added square footage; they offer flexibility, function, and future potential.
Whether you’re welcoming extended family, planning for aging-in-place, or exploring rental income opportunities, a well-designed Guest Suite can meet a variety of needs. Usually integrated into the main home and accessed through a private entrance, they provide a sense of independence while still keeping everyone under one roof.
It’s important to clarify that Guest Suites are not the same as Ohana Units, also known as Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). An Ohana Unit is a completely detached structure, often a separate cottage located in the backyard. A Guest Suite, on the other hand, is built within the footprint of the primary home. Think of it as a private wing or studio space, with its own bedroom, bathroom, and sometimes a kitchenette.
This week, we toured four homes in Waikoloa Village that featured unique Guest Suite layouts. Each one had its own unique layout and vibe, from spacious guest quarters with yard access to more compact setups perfect for rental use.
Here’s an overview of what we saw.
